The position will be part of project "Burchards Dekret Digital. Arbeitsplattform zu Texterschließung und Wirkungsgeschichte früh- und hochmittelalterlicher Rechtskulturen". The academic staff member works at the JGU Mainz and reports to the Head of the Department of Medieval History.
Your tasks:
- Scientific collaboration in the field of digital humanities of the above mentioned project, in particular conducting own research work within the scope of the project tasks
- Collaboration in the development and presentation of a manuscript database
- Collaboration in the design and further development of the digital edition (XML/TEI) as well as corresponding analysis techniques
- Collaboration in the documentation of the digital implementation
Your profile:
In addition to the general requirements according to public services law, applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in § 57 of the Hochschulgesetz of Rhineland-Palatinate.
- Successfully completed studies in the Digital Humanities or in the Humanities or Cultural studies (M.A./M.Ed.), with a special expertise in Digital Humanities. This expertise might be attested, although, by respective work experience
- Proven expertise on two of the fields:
- Advancement of frameworks for digital editions (development of frameworks and plug-ins for Oxygen XML editor)
- Application of x-technologies (xml, xquery, xslt, xpath), especially for transformation to web and print
- Webdevelopment (FrontEnd Stack: Javascript, HTML, CSS)
- Tools for digital editions or analytic methods based on TEI P 5
- Capacity for teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Willingness to learn project-specific software
The position is paid according to EG 13 TV-L and to be filled on 1.7.2021. The position is temporary for a fixed term until 31.12.2024.
